Blood of Dragons is the only author-approved MUSH based on George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire. Play the Game of Thrones and become a part of the history of the Seven Kingdoms:
We have been tweaking a few things about the in-game boards. Most of the boards now have a longer timeout, and we are also adding more detailed descriptions of the board to help players see what they can be used for. To see the timeout and the description (as well as some other information) about a board, simply type +bbinfo
The most significant change so far has been to establish the Plots board. We are hoping to use this board as an easy overview of on-going plots that guests and new players can be pointed to. Players are welcome to post plots to the board as well, just make sure to follow the established format.
If there are any suggestions for boards to add (or drop), please let us know. The current list of boards can be seen with +bblist.
As a further step to making influence more useful, we have now instituted code that will automatically increase or decrease current influence levels at the beginning of each month. Influence points available to be used shall be raised or lowered each month, depending on whether they are presently above or below their current base level, and by what margin. Players who are significantly below or above their base influence will automatically gain or lose influence at a higher-than-normal rate.
We have reset everyone to their base influence, as a first step to furthering the use of influence on the game. In the process of doing this, we discovered various minor errors which failed to give people the correct entries in their status field (for example, many knights did not get the benefits of taking Knight). Furthermore, after further consideration, we have modified the process by which influence is derived. Many players will find that their influence is somewhat lower than it was previously, to better reflect the strong negative impacts that negative modifiers can have on status.
The issue with CG and XP has now been corrected. CG and XP expenditure is once again available to players.
A major bug in CG and XP was discovered today, which has caused some significant problems in relation to advancement. For the time being, CG and XP spending via the practice command are closed.
Based on nominations for April, no story points (SP) will be awarded this month. However, we’ve determined to award XP to Aurana, Ethos, and Janden for their contributions to the game over the previous month.
For more information concerning the system, see +HELP SP and +HELP XP. For information about how to use story points or experience points you’ve earned, see Advancement helpfiles.
Based on nominations for March, a story point (SP) has been awarded to Dagur for his contributions to the game in the last month. In a move to use the nom system more broadly to be able to award things other than SP, we’ve also awarded XP to Ardon and Orene.
For more information concerning the system, see +HELP SP and +HELP XP. For information about how to use story points or experience points you’ve earned, see the Advancement helpfiles.
Based on nominations for February, story points (SP) have been awarded to Jonn and Ethos for their contributions to the game in the last month. In a move to use the nom system more broadly to be able to award things other than SP, we’ve also awarded XP to Reyna and Sarmion.
For more information concerning the system, see +HELP SP and +HELP XP. For information about how to use story points or experience points you’ve earned, see the helpfiles.
The Religion and Technology sections of the Theme Helpfiles have now been fleshed out. If there are any questions or comments about this material, let us know.
A bug was discovered in the process of setting alt information on players following the creation of a third character. After scratching my head over it for much more time than I care to admit, I realized it was because I forgot to put an extra comma in the setunion function. :P This should now be corrected. Players who had their alt information messed up due to this problem should now have them all corrected as well.
Thanks to the very hard work of Balerion, Dorne is now fully desced. In order to build up a population of characters before we begin running any events in Sunspear, Dorne will immediately be pre-opened. This will also help us iron out any code issues that may be remaining in terms of adapting the various systems to handle two areas.
This means that players can now request and CG characters based in Sunspear (for tier IIs and IIIs, we will give it a week from this announcement before we start looking at the applications competing for the available slots). Once approved, they can also start role-playing. However, players should be aware that Admin-support beyond handling regular requests, questions, etc will be limited to start with. With several plots currently running and upcoming in the King’s Landing area, we will need to focus on these for the moment. We will also continue to work on a few remaining tasks related to Dorne, such as fleshing out the recent IC history and the current court structure.
Players are very welcome to give input on the court structure (and to work with the Admin to work their characters into it), and we would also love to see more players CGing Cameos for the area.
Based on nominations for January, story points (SP) have been awarded to Cadan and Sarmion for their contributions to the game in the last month.
For more information concerning the system, see +HELP SP. For information about how to use story points you’ve earned, see the Advancement helpfiles.
The characters that can be reserved are primarily those who have their REGION and LOCATION set to DORNE (add REGION/DORNE and LOCATION/DORNE to a +CDB/SEARCH to find them). They are currently all set CLOSED, to prevent them to be requested using the regular system, but unless they are younger than 15 or deceased they will be available for play when the area opens.
We are also open to reservations of non-Dornish characters to be played in Dorne as part of King Daeron’s occupation forces, but in these cases we would like the reservation to be accompanied by a brief write-up regarding what position the player envisions the character as holding in Dorne.
Please note that a reservation is not a guarantee, although very close to one in the case of Open characters. If you have any questions at all, direct them to Nymeria or Balerion.
The family tree for House Santagar has been organized and expanded, increasing the CDB by about 14 characters. If you’re interested in helping us out with proofing, please feel free to examine CDB records starting with 2201 and see if you spot any oddities such as strange birth or death dates, birth dates that are impossible in relation to other births or deaths, typos, etc.
This should be the last of the significant expansions of Dornish houses at this time, although we may add in a few people here and there in the near future. But we’re presently satisfied, so “expanding Dornish houses” is now checkmarked off the to-do list for opening Dorne, meaning we’re one step closer.
The family tree for House Blackmont has been organized and expanded, increasing the CDB by about 18 characters (including additional characters in House Jordayne). If you’re interested in helping us out with proofing, please feel free to examine CDB records starting with Perros Blackmont and see if you spot any oddities such as strange birth or death dates, birth dates that are impossible in relation to other births or deaths, typos, etc.
