Blood of Dragons

The 'A Song of Ice and Fire' MUSH

Announcements

SP and XP Awards

Based on the nominations for August, one Story Point (SP) each has been awarded to Luthor and Reyna. Experience Points (XP) were awarded to Aurana, Burton, Dagur, Dormund Elmer, Ethos, Farin, Galwell, Samara, Rhodry, and Tancred.

For more information concerning the system, see +HELP ADVANCEMENT. For information about how to use story points or experience points you’ve earned, see http://www.westeros.org/BoD/Helpfiles/Category:System::Advancement/

SP and XP Awards

Based on the lack of nominations for July, no Story Point (SP) has been awarded this month; we hope to give out two SP next month, however. Experience Points (XP) were awarded to Luthor, Reyna, Dagur, Farin, and Joleta.

For more information concerning the Advancement system (how to use SP and XP, how to nominate, etc), see +HELP ADVANCEMENT and SYSTEM ADVANCEMENT.

Character Creation

Accounts can now be created at the login screen. These accounts will have a VISITOR flag that restricts them in much the same way that a Guest is restricted, but with a couple of important differences:

First off, to start with they will not be able to leave the Godswood (we may change this if it turns out we can accomplish certain other code changes, to allow them to at least visit the other OOC areas). Secondly, they will be able to use the +mail and +bb system and they will be able to join any other channels than what they start out with (Newbie and Connections). We are hoping this means they will be more useful for potential players who want to talk to current players before deciding which character to apply for.

It will take us a while to update all relevant files to include this information and to catch all the spots on the game where information that might now be outdated exists. If you see a Visitor connecting and asking questions about the game, please help out by informing them that they need to apply for a character from the CDB before they can start roleplaying, as we are expecting that it may confuse people into thinking they can create any character they want.

SP and XP Awards

Based on the nominations for May, one Story Point (SP) has been awarded to Reyna. Experience Points (XP) were awarded to Alyse, Ethos, Farin, Pennei, Sarmion, and Stevyn for their contributions to the game.

For more information concerning the system, see +HELP ADVANCEMENT. For information about how to use story points or experience points you’ve earned, see http://www.westeros.org/BoD/Helpfiles/Category:System::Advancement/

Planning the Future

Now that we’ve gone through the death of Daeron II and the coronation of Baelor I, we’d like to invite players to participate in helping us figure out what sort of future events—small or large scale, short term or long term—they’re interested in seeing take place on the game, and being a part of. We’d love your input! We already have some ideas and plans sketched out, but we’re always happy to develop more. We’re not necessarily looking at individual personal plots (though we’d be glad to hear about those, too), but just ideas for things you’ve thought before, “That was cool,” or “That would be cool.”

Bear in mind that we are bound by canon in regards to some things—Baelor will not be dying before his allotted time—so there are limits to what can be done. However, there’s a vast swathe of history out there yet to be made, and we’re looking forward to exploring it with you. On a related note, Dorne’s going to be the most wide-open area in terms of larger-scale events, and it’s an excellent place for those who want to have a somewhat freer hand in terms of plans and plotting. It won’t be a free for all—we still do know certain things—but it’s even less written about than the rest of the Seven Kingdoms.

Please feel free to contact us via e-mail at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address), or via +mail on the game, with your ideas, suggestions, and questions about future plans on the game. Or check the BoD forum, where this post will be archived, and start discussing it there.

SP and XP Awards

Based on the nominations for April, no story points have been awarded. Experience Points (XP) were awarded to Pennei, Elmer, Ober, Luthor, Ethos, and Galwell for their contributions to the game.

For more information concerning the system, see +HELP ADVANCEMENT. For information about how to use story points or experience points you’ve earned, see System Advancement.

CDB Alterations

After introducing the Events and liking that format, we’ve decided to rework how some of the Long Info fields of the CDB work. Hints, Notes, Rumors and Secrets will be moving to the new Notes attribute which works similar to Events as shown by +HELP CDB NOTES. Each note is identified with a title and can be set to public or private. Notes can contain both IC and OOC information and will occasionally be used by Staff to place information on a character for a future player.

All current Hints, Notes, Rumors and Secrets have been moved into public Notes called Hints and Rumors and private Notes called Notes and Secrets. As Notes are fully editable by players, feel free to rearrange these as appropriate, but keep in mind that secrets that were part of the approval may not be removed and any Notes placed by Staff should also be kept if still relevant.

SP and XP Awards

Based on the nominations for March, no story points have been awarded. Experience Points (XP) were awarded to Almer, Joleta, Ethos, Stevyn, and Galwell for their contributions to the game.

For more information concerning the Advancement system (how to use SP and XP, how to nominate, etc), see +HELP ADVANCEMENT and SYSTEM ADVANCEMENT.

+Scene Command Added

A new command, +scene, has been added. It allows players to make a game-wide announcement when they are starting a public roleplaying scene. See +help +scene for more details, and please don’t be shy about using it.

New Article

A new Article, Playing a Woman at Court, has been added thanks to Damphair:

Questions or comments? Let us know.

SP and XP Awards

Based on the nominations for February, one Story Point was awarded this month to Luthor. Experience Points (XP) were awarded to Burton, Caitrin, Elmer, Ethos, and Joleta for their contributions to the game.

For more information concerning the Advancement system (how to use SP and XP, how to nominate, etc), see +HELP ADVANCEMENT and SYSTEM ADVANCEMENT.

XP Rewards

We have raised the XP rewards for various player-level +jobs as well as added XP rewards for some additional ways that players can help out but which aren’t part of +jobs: recruting new players, running NPCs and submitting logs.

Advancement Experience Points

Court Positions

As part of our efforts to strengthen the political aspects of the game (the campaign in Dorne won’t go on forever, after all), we have posted two new resources in the Articles section of the website detailing the court structure and the court positions in both King’s Landing and Sunspear. Many of these positions are such that players can aspire to fill them if they have the right qualifications, and we suggest that players with political ambitions get familiar with these documents.

Policy Changes

The Policy & Roleplay files listed below have been updated and all players are required to read them as soon as possible. If anything is unclear or if you have any questions, please get in touch with us.

One reason for this update has been that we have been informed that players supposedly have left the game over issues with other players. This is not the first time such claims come to us afterwards, and we are quite frustrated by the lack of communication on behalf of these players. The simply fact is that we cannot do anything about situations that we are not informed about, and by that we mean informed by the party or parties involved.

If players choose to leave the game rather than communicate with us, then so be it, it is up to them. That said, we sincerely hope that none of them then complain about issues with the game elsewhere, if they never even gave us the chance to address said issues.

New Staff

We’d like to welcome the latest addition to our staff: Damphair! His regular PC is Dagur Saltcliffe, and he’s been with the game from its start in beta. He’ll be helping to develop and implement plots on the game, as well as generally being available to assist players.
