Renown Mechanics

The base Fame and Infamy of each character depends on the rank of the character’s house as well as various modifiers. Those assets and flaws that work as modifiers on Fame and Infamy may also affect the amount of Fame and Infamy gained and lost through for example +rumors. Finally, Tier is also factored in. Renown is then calculated as the total sum of Fame and Infamy whereas Reputation is calculated as a value between -100 and 100 that depends on Fame in comparison with Infamy.

House Rank

The house ranks are as listed here, with the number after each house supplying both an initial base value (which is equal to rank x 10 for fame and rank x 5 for infamy) and acting as a multiplier on the modifiers.

  • Smallfolk Family: 1
  • Hedge Knight Family: 2
  • Lesser Merchant Family: 3
  • Unlanded Knightly House: 3
  • Greater Unlanded Knightly House: 4
  • Merchant Family: 5
