Rumors Mechanics

This file describes which CharGen selections affect your success with the +rumors system. Rumors belong to one of six arenas, each associated with a skill, and they exist within different physical locations, which affects who will be hearing what rumors. When a player attempts to start a rumor (it is possible to fail at doing so), the success determines the initial strength of the rumor. For a targeted rumor, the strength determines the effect it has on the target as well as how long it will last. Successful attempts at spreading or quashing a rumor will have an effect on the strength of the rumor, and these attempts can be traced via an investigation of the rumor. The traceable data also includes who has heard a rumor and who has investigated a rumor.
