House Payne

Checkered purple and white, within each square a golden coin

General Information

Two members of the house have appeared so far: Podrick Payne, a boy squire, and his distant cousin Ser Ilyn Payne, the King’s Justice, who had his tongue torn out at the command of King Aerys while captain of Tywin Lannister’s guard because he had boasted that it was the Hand who truly ruled the realm.

Spoilers

Podrick Payne was made squire to Tyrion Lannister when he reached his father’s host on the Trident. He saved Tyrion Lannister from Ser Mandon Moore, pushing the Kingsguard into the Blackwater after he tried to kill the Imp. Ser Ilyn was very quick to execute Lord Eddard Stark at the king’s command, although it was probably known to him that the former Hand was supposed to be granted his life. He took Lord Stark’s ancestral Valyrian-steel greatsword, Ice, for his own, although he turned it over to Lord Tywin so that the Lannisters could finally have their Valyrian steel again. He was given a new greatsword in return.
