House Oakheart of Old Oak

Three green oak leaves on gold

General Information

Their motto is, “Our Roots Go Deep.” The only members of the house to appear are the tiny and delicate Lady Arwyn Oakheart, head of the house, and Ser Arys Oakheart, a member of the Kingsguard, who is the son of Lady Arwyn. An Oakheart of the past is mentioned, Ser Olyvar, called “the Green Oak”, who was a knight of the Kingsguard in the reign of Daeron I the Young Dragon and died at his side.

Spoilers

Ser Arys Oakheart was made sworn shield to Princess Myrcella Baratheon during her time at Sunspear as a “guest” of Prince Doran Martell during her betrothal to Prince Trystane. He was seduced by Princess Arianne Martell and drawn into her plot to crown Myrcella Baratheon, but the plot failed with most of the conspirators captured. Ser Arys charged at Prince Doran’s men but was killed by Areo Hotah, captain of the guard.

Lady Arwyn was among those lords and ladies with King Renly at Bitterbridge and her forces were with the the combined Tyrell and Lannister army at the Blackwater.
