Game of Thrones: Characters

Hugh of the Vale

Played by Jefferson Hall

Although of a low and undistinguished birth, Hugh of the Vale somehow became squire to Lord Jon Arryn, Lord of the Eyrie and Hand of the King. On Lord Arryn’s death, he was knighted by King Robert in honor of his deceased foster-father. He is a young man, described as not handsome, with rough-hewn features. He has a notable ego, following his knighthood.

The actor cast in the role is 3 years older than the character. More notably, however, his name has been changed from Robert, named after the king who had been Lord Arryn’s ward, to Robin to avoid potential viewer confusion.
