Winterfell’s captain of the guard, Jory Cassel is nephew to Ser Rodrik, the aged master-at-arms. A bull-necked, mustached man, he’s a trusted, dutiful figure. His father Martyn was killed serving Lord Eddard during Robert’s rebellion.
Jory accompanies Lord Stark to King’s Landing. While Ned deals with the business of the realm, Jory investigates the death of Jon Arryn at Ned’s direction. He meets but is rebuffed by Ser Hugh of the Vale, and joins Eddard in visiting the armorer Tobho Mott and his apprentice Gendry. After Lord Stark resigns as Hand of the King following Robert’s order to assassinate Daenerys and Viserys Targaryen, Jory is with him when Jaime Lannister attacks his men. Jory fights in Ned’s defense, attacking the Kingslayer, only to die a brutal death as Ser Jaime shoves a dagger into his eye.
