Our very first look at Dutch actress Carice van Houten as Melisandre of Asshai. If I’m not mistaken, some powder has been used to lighten her complexion—the character in the novel is quite pale-skinned, apparently. Hard to see if she has Melisandre’s unnatural, red eyes as well—we’re going to guess no, given the difficulty other actors have had with such contacts, and the fact that they can look unconvincing.

You can just glimpse what appears to be the choker with the large, red ruby around her neck.
