Here we see him with a heavy fur cloak—doubtless the old, musty bearskin that Benjen grudgingly gives him when he travels to the Wall—that we haven’t seen before on him. Wonder where he loses that in all the other scenes we’ve seen of him without it? He has it at the inn and, given the location, at least on the early part of the high road.

Our speculation? He throws it off when it comes time to fight, so that it doesn’t get in his way.
