Here we get a further glimpse, and there’s an interesting detail here that makes us very happy. In the foreground, it looks like someone’s carrying a box which doubtless contains gifts for the khal and his new khaleesi. The turban certainly helps to emphasize the foreign locale of the Free Cities, although interestingly the only place turban-like headgear is ever described in the novels is in Dorne, which is a part of the Seven Kingdoms (although with a somewhat distinctly different cultural background than much of the rest of it).

The detail we’re pleased with particularly, however, is the gentleman with a spear in the background. That tall, spiked helmet can’t be anything less than one of the Unsullied, who are first introduced to readers in Daenerys’s first chaper and who will play a role in events later in the series. Eunuch slave-soldiers from Astapor, the Unsullied are raised from childhood to perfect obedience. In the novels, they are regularly given a drug that deadens sensations until they feel no pain at all.
