Here we see Lord Eddard speaking with his young son, Bran. The dialog has him asking if Bran understood why he executed the man, a question Ned asks his son in the novel. However, Bran’s answer is different—there he says that the man was a wildling, who steals women away, and Ned informs him that in fact he was a deserter from the Night’s Watch. Here, Bran knows that immediately, and says so.
