Verizon Reveals Two Featurettes

VerizonFIOS has a couple of exclusive videos up touting the upcoming season of Game of Thrones. The first is misnamed—it claims to be about the Red Wedding but is in fact about the wedding feast scene for the marriage of Joffrey and Margaery—while the second is a great look at the weapons and fight training. Note that the latter definitely is spoilerish in its way:

Interesting to see a sword hilt for Oberyn’s sword, which of course we really never see him use in the books, and from the clips we’ve seen he doesn’t seem to make use of it either. From the curved hilt, I’m guessing that the sword is going feature a curved blade as well (I’d even go so far as to guess that it may be specifically modeled on the Chinese dao, given the production’s references to Asian martial-arts and Pedro Pascal citing his training by a wushu master), but it’s worth noting that in the novels the Dornish use straight swords like everyone else in Westeros; curved sabres or scimitars are in fact what the Dothraki arakhs were intended to be, rather than the more fanciful weapons of the show.
