A press release has just gone out from Amazon.com, announcing that George R.R. Martin is the latest author to move over a million copies of his books via the Kindle Store. The release includes a quote from Martin, and notes that so far only ten other authors (including fellow HBO-adapted writer, Charlaine Harris) have earned that distinction.

Martin is the latest author to sell more than 1 million Kindle books in the Kindle Store (www.amazon.com/kindlestore). George R.R. Martin sold his first story in 1971 and has been writing professionally ever since. He spent ten years in Hollywood as a writer-producer, working on The Twilight Zone, Beauty and the Beast, and various feature films and television pilots. In the mid ‘90s he returned to prose, and began work on his epic fantasy series, A Song of Ice and Fire, which now includes five books: “A Game of Thrones,” “A Clash of Kings,” “A Storm of Swords,” “A Feast for Crows” and “A Dance with Dragons.” The series was recently adapted for television on HBO, titled Game of Thrones.
