This is a summary of previous news relating to GRRM and A Song of Ice and Fire which we felt should be preserved.
On July 20, 2002 we reported that Deuces Down, the first of the new Wild Cards books, is just out. GRRM has not written any of the stories in it himself, but he is the editor.
On June 1, 2002 we reported that GRRM’s official site had an important update regarding a A Feast for Crows. It is still being written, and there is no set publication date, whatever various bookstores may claim. Secondly, the new US hardback of A Game of Thrones, as well as the US trade paperbacks of A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings and A Storm of Swords are now out.
On March 11, 2002 we reported that Fantasy Flight Games has acquired the rights to produce a collectible card game and a board game based on A Song of Ice and Fire. The official page of the CCG is here and some more information about the project can be found here.
On January 29, 2002 we reported that a second Legends anthology will be published (although by Del Rey, not Tor). It will also be edited by Robert Silverberg, and among the authors who have agreed to provide a story is GRRM! He will contribute a second Dunk & Egg story called "The Sworn Sword".
On December 16, 2001 we reported that A Game of Thrones has now actually passed The Lord of the Rings on the Internet Top 100 SF/Fantasy list.
On September 3, 2001 we reported that A Storm of Swords came in second for the Best Novel Hugo.
On September 1, 2001 we reported that we had just learned, from those attending the WorldCon in Philadelphia, that the next book will be A Feast for Crows and that the 5-year gap previously announced between the events of book 3 and book 4 will be covered in that book. A Dance with Dragons will be the fifth book.
On July 8, 2001 we reported that the 2001 Locus Award for Best Fantasy Novel went to A Storm of Swords!
On March 2, 2001 we reported that A Storm of Swords was picked as the Reader’s Choice for the SF Site’s Best Books of 2000 list.
On September 2, 2000 we reported that the Guest of Honour at the 2003 WorldCon in Toronto, Canada (August 28 to September 1), will be none other than George R.R. Martin!
