Following the ending of last week’s episode, a stunned and despondent Jaime is trying to come to terms with his new situation. Or rather, it might be fairer to say he is considering leaving it. Brienne does not approve.

In King’s Landing, we learn more about Varys’s past. Book reader’s may arch a brow at one particular revelation; we certainly did when we watched it. Everyone’s favourite eunuch also seems to have taken an interest in Sansa, something which may align him with the Tyrells, at least for a time.

Far away from the comforts (and plots) of the city, Arya and Gendry are being taken to see the mysterious leader of the Brotherhood without Banners, who intends to bring Sandor Clegane to justice. A very particular brand of justice.

Beyond the Wall, tensions grow high as the starving men of the Night’s Watch can’t stop thinking about the food they suspect Craster is hiding from them. Eventually, matters come to a head.

Finally, in far-away Astapor, Daenerys concludes her bargain with the slavers. One dragon for 8000 Unsullied.
