This episode, written by Bryan Cogman, certainly has its fiery moments. Among the Brotherhood, the Hound finds himself facing justice—and Beric Dondarrion—while Arya hopes to cross a name off her list. In the North, Ygritte demands proof from Jon that he really has broken his vows to the Night’s Watch.

But fire isn’t the only element featured in this episode; in Harrenhal, Jaime and Brienne get a chance to get clean and set the record straight on a key point in Jaime’s past. This scene is one of the highlights of the season so far.

The Riverlands also see bloodshed and betrayal when the desire for vengeance among some of the northmen have gruesome consequences at Riverrun and force King Robb to make a difficult decision.

In King’s Landing, on the other hand, the dealings are much more underhanded as Littlefinger is snooping about regarding various Tyrell plans. What he comes up with leads Tywin to make a few unpopular decisions.

Finally, on Dragonstone we meet Stannis’s wife and daughter, the latter who seems to have a penchant for silly little songs…
