This is a great shot of Ser Waymar Royce, an arrogant young ranger of the Night’s Watch, flanked by veteran rangers Gared and Will as a gate through the Wall is being raised for them. Castle Black can be seen in the background.

I do not recall seeing any sort of gate-like structure when I was at Magheramorne quarry, where almost all of the the Castle Black scenes were shot, so I suppose this was something that they brought out to film scenes like this and put away when it was unnecessary.
