Well, as the latest issue of Locus has announced this, it seems official. George R. R. Martin and Bantam have concluded a deal to publish a world book for A Song of Ice and Fire, which will provide a great amount of deal about the setting featured in A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, and A Feast for Crows. It’ll be copiously illustrated by some of the best artists in the industry and by some of the fan favorites.
Oh, and George’ll have a couple of co-authors on this endeavor, by the name of Elio M. García, Jr. and Linda Antonsson.

During this year’s Worldcon in Los Angeles, one of the official convention events will be a human chess match organized by the Brotherhood without Banners. Mike S. Miller, the artist on DB Pro’s The Hedge Knight graphic novel, has announced an auction. It includes what’s perhaps his finest cover from the mini-series, pages from the same series, a depiction of the Hound (the fully colored version having been published in The Art of George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire), and much more of interest to general comic book collectors.

Guardians of Order, publisher of the A Game of Thrones Roleplaying Game, have officially announced their closure on their front page. Our condolences and best wishes to Mark MacKinnon, the founder of the company, who has had a hard road to travel these last months.

The Onion has published a recent article describing Wikipedia’s recent celebration of America’s 750th year of independence. In the course of the article, it notes that Wikipedia has information concerning the original colonies that would make up the United States, among them “Narnia, the central ice deserts, and Westeros”.

Unshelved, a comic strip that features a recommendation for a book every Sunday, has now featured GRRM’s A Game of Thrones.
The next expansion set for Fantasy Flight Games’s card game, the A Game of Thrones: Iron Throne Edition, has been named according to the July 21st entry at their rants page. According to Dan, the expansion will be called “A House of Thorns”, and will heavily focus on House Tyrell.
As previously reported, the A Game of Thrones Roleplaying game (PDF version purchasable here) has been nominated in a number of categories in this year’s ENnie Awards. Among the nominations are Best d20/OGL Product and Best Product. What we failed to mention was the fact that voting is open to everyone.
As some may be aware, Testor has cancelled all standing orders for the limited edition Ruby Ford miniatures sculpted by Tom Meier. No word has yet been given when orders will re-open.
