Blood of Dragons

The 'A Song of Ice and Fire' MUSH

Announcements

+Events

A new command, +events, has been added. The helpfile can be accessed with +HELP +EVENTS. This command will allow the Admin as well as all players to create events that other players can sign up for. This command will take the place of the Events board, though we may look at having the command post to the Events board when an event is added, edited or deleted.

SP and XP Awards

Based on the nominations for October, a Story Point (SP) has been awarded to Joleta, and Experience Points (XP) were awarded to Anders, Andry, Dagur, Reyna, Aurana, and Tancred for their contributions to the game over the last month.

For more information concerning the Advancement system (how to use SP and XP, how to nominate, etc), see +HELP ADVANCEMENT and SYSTEM ADVANCEMENT.

+Help CDB Events

After a couple of days of knocking my head against a wall, we have managed to complete work on a new CDB features, Events. See +HELP CDB EVENTS for more information. This will allow players to add a short text describing something of note that happened to their character on the selected day. This note can be private or public. This should help players keep a track of RP events, and help future players of those characters get up to speed on things that have happened to their character.

The system is not really envisioned as an everyday sort of thing, and is primarily intended for use to record noteworthy events (for the character, not necessarily for the greater public) rather than to catalogue every single RP session that a player partakes in.

SP and XP Awards

Based on the nominations for September, a Story Point (SP) has been awarded to Andry, and Experience Points (XP) were awarded to Dagur, Desmona, Fiona, Janden, and Joleta for their contributions to the game over the last month.

For more information concerning the Advancement system (how to use SP and XP, how to nominate, etc), see +HELP ADVANCEMENT and SYSTEM ADVANCEMENT.

SP and XP Awards

Based on the nominations for August, Experience Points (XP) were awarded to Humfrey, Janden, and Sarmion for their contributions over the previous month.

For more information concerning the Advancement system (how to use SP and XP, how to nominate, etc), see +HELP ADVANCEMENT and SYSTEM ADVANCEMENT.

The Dornish Rebellion

Almost three years have passed since King Daeron I, the Young Dragon, invaded and conquered Dorne, the last independent realm in Westeros. Within the next month, the fires of rebellion will sweep through Dorne, and in light of this we would love to see more PCs in Dorne, either Dornish natives or members of the Targaryen occupation forces. Considering that roleplay will likely be sporadic to start up, we encourage Dornish PCs primarily as alts for those who already have a PC in King’s Landing, but we will also advertise outside of the game and anyone who wishes to have just a Dornish PC is of course welcome.

While the broad outline of the events is already planned out, as we will be following what canon knowledge there is about these events, the fates of individual characters are very much up to their players. The option definitely exists to work with the Admin to tie new character concepts to current and forthcoming events.

We are hoping that as the rebellion progresses, some plot locations may be added to the grid on a temporary basis to allow for the playing out of battles and other important events that do not take place in either King’s Landing or Sunspear. Temp alts (in the form of puppets or player objects setup specifically for that purpose) will likely be made available to take part in such events, but there will also be room for actual PCs (not the least non-Dornish knights) to relocate to Dorne.

All questions and comments are, as usual, most welcome.

Story Point Awards

Based on nominations for March, a story point (SP) has been awarded to Dagur for his contributions to the game in the last month. In a move to use the nom system more broadly to be able to award things other than SP, we’ve also awarded XP to Ardon and Orene.

For more information concerning the system, see +HELP SP and +HELP XP. For information about how to use story points or experience points you’ve earned, see the Advancement helpfiles.

Story Point Awards

Based on nominations for February, story points (SP) have been awarded to Jonn and Ethos for their contributions to the game in the last month. In a move to use the nom system more broadly to be able to award things other than SP, we’ve also awarded XP to Reyna and Sarmion.

For more information concerning the system, see +HELP SP and +HELP XP. For information about how to use story points or experience points you’ve earned, see the helpfiles.

Pre-Opening Dorne

Thanks to the very hard work of Balerion, Dorne is now fully desced. In order to build up a population of characters before we begin running any events in Sunspear, Dorne will immediately be pre-opened. This will also help us iron out any code issues that may be remaining in terms of adapting the various systems to handle two areas.

This means that players can now request and CG characters based in Sunspear (for tier IIs and IIIs, we will give it a week from this announcement before we start looking at the applications competing for the available slots). Once approved, they can also start role-playing. However, players should be aware that Admin-support beyond handling regular requests, questions, etc will be limited to start with. With several plots currently running and upcoming in the King’s Landing area, we will need to focus on these for the moment. We will also continue to work on a few remaining tasks related to Dorne, such as fleshing out the recent IC history and the current court structure.

Players are very welcome to give input on the court structure (and to work with the Admin to work their characters into it), and we would also love to see more players CGing Cameos for the area.

Story Point Awards

Based on nominations for January, story points (SP) have been awarded to Cadan and Sarmion for their contributions to the game in the last month.

For more information concerning the system, see +HELP SP. For information about how to use story points you’ve earned, see the Advancement helpfiles.

Reserving Dornish Characters

It is now possible to reserve a Dornish character for when the area opens. This is done by e-mailing the Admin at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and stating which character you would like to play. Please include the character’s full name and DBNUM, as listed in +CDB

.

The characters that can be reserved are primarily those who have their REGION and LOCATION set to DORNE (add REGION/DORNE and LOCATION/DORNE to a +CDB/SEARCH to find them). They are currently all set CLOSED, to prevent them to be requested using the regular system, but unless they are younger than 15 or deceased they will be available for play when the area opens.

We are also open to reservations of non-Dornish characters to be played in Dorne as part of King Daeron’s occupation forces, but in these cases we would like the reservation to be accompanied by a brief write-up regarding what position the player envisions the character as holding in Dorne.

Please note that a reservation is not a guarantee, although very close to one in the case of Open characters.  If you have any questions at all, direct them to Nymeria or Balerion.

Story Points

Retroactive story points have been handed out to several current players who’ve made particularly significant RP contributions to the game over the past two years. From here on out, story point awards will not depend to any degree on mailed-in nominations (which were solicited last time around). We’ve created a small system for nominating players, which you can read more about via +HELP SP. For information about how to use story points, see SYSTEM ADVANCEMENT.

Players can nominate up to three players for story points per month, with a text explaining why they think that player deserves a story point. Staff will take all nominations into account when judging who gets a story point. If there are very few nominations, we will defer awarding points to the next month. Regardless of that, however, nominations should always be made for activities within the previous month rather than for general activity in past months. Finally, to make sure the story points do not start to saturate the game, only one or two will be given out each month, and staff will make the effort to spread the points around among deserving players.
