It’s worth noting that the ships are caravels in style, a type of ship developed (in our world) in the 15th century by the Portuguese for the purpose of exploration. They’re not really warcraft. This is a change from the novels, where the bulk of military craft in the setting are war galleys such as were seen in the Mediterranean from ancient times through to the Renaissance.
