Deadline reports that Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest is scheduled to reach theaters on June 1, 2029. Owen Harris is attached to direct, with Beau Willimon writing the screenplay.

We reported on Willimon’s involvement in March, when the subject of the film was still speculation. Warner Bros. revealed its working title in April. Now the project has both a date and a director, which means it’s rolling along.

Harris did fine work on A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, directing three episodes, including the climatic trial of seven. His television credits also include The Twilight Zone revival (the recent one, not the one from the 80s!) and Peacock’s Brave New World, which starred Game of Thrones alumnus Harry Lloyd. More importantly, in our mind, is that he directed “San Junipero,” our absolutely favorite Black Mirror episode and one George R.R. Martin has praised as a particular favorite of his own; it went on to win the Hugo Award. Aegon’s Conquest would be Harris’s first feature film since 2015’s Kill Your Friends.
