Winterfell Releases New Album

Winterfell, a heavy metal band who has drawn inspiration from the A Song of Ice and Fire series, has released their first, full-length album, The Veil of Summer. One full song and two clips are available here.

More information, including how to purchase it via their on-line store and other outlets, can be found on their news page.

New AFfC Excerpt Available

Following reports that an excerpt booklet containing a chapter of AFfC was being given away free at Barnes & Nobles in the U.S., it’s now come to light that the same excerpt is now available at Barnes & Nobles on-line store. You can find the excerpt here.

AGoT RPG PDFs for Sale

To purchase it, go here.

BwB Katrina Fund and Birthday Greetings

Dave McCaman of the Brotherhood Without Banners Fan Club called for donations towards a gift for GRRM and Parris to mark the successful completion of A Feast for Crows. Hundreds of dollars had been raised, when tragedy struck New Orleans. George happens to go to Mardi Gras every year, participating with the Endymion Krewe (whose medallions have served as the sigil of office of Lords of the Brotherhood), and so we all know that he must be feeling this particularly deeply.

AFfC Australian Publication Date

Contrary to early word that Voyager Australia would be releasing A Feast for Crows on September 28th, two weeks prior to the U.K. release, the publisher has now confirmed that the Australian edition of A Feast for Crows shares the same release date with the U.K. edition: October 17.

So Spake Martin Update

At last, two lengthy reports on ASoIaF-elevant information gained at Worldcon added to the So Spake Martin collection, in the Reports section. For those who were present, if there are any errors or omissions, please do make a note of it.

ASoIaF RPG Approaching

Guardians of Order have recently made the Deluxe Limited Edition of their new A Game of Thrones Roleplaying Game available at GenCon. Before that, contributors to the game (such as ourselves) and pre-orderers were given free access to PDFs of the deluxe edition. Now that we’ve finally had some time to look over the finished product, we thought we’d share some of our thoughts.

Miniature Game Info

One of the Testor Corporation’s A Song of Ice and Fire product lines will be its skirmishing-scale wargame, previously reported on here. Now Andy Chambers, a well-known designer in the gaming community, has begun to provide more information about the game on his Red Star Games website. Don’t miss the PDF at the very bottom of the page.

The Art of Ice and Fire

From Fantasy Flight Games, makers of the AGoT CCG and board game, comes The Art of Ice and Fire, collecting art from the card game, the board game as well as other sources. Some of the art has never been seen before, and the book also includes a foreword from GRRM.

Note: Although Amazon.com currently lists a date of August 26th for this book, we believe the date listed by Amazon.co.uk—October 21st— to be more accurate.

New AFfC Excerpt Booklet

Bantam has sent out free promotional booklets to stores throughout the U.S., to match the release of their new A Game of Thrones paperbacks priced at $3.99. These booklets contain a chapter from A Feast for Crows, titled “The Captain of Guards”.  It has been noted that not all bookstores have received these. Furthermore, some that have received them have not actually placed them out for customers to take. If you try some stores (particularly large chains) and find they don’t have it, ask to talk with their general manager and ask them if they know anything about it or, better yet, have any copies on hand.

More Info from Testors

On the heels of our previous post, Mikel Butterworth of the Testor Corporation has provided us further information as well as clarifications to our last report.

Concordance Update

The Concordance has now been updated through "The Sworn Sword", in preparation for the upcoming release of A Feast for Crows.

One or two further update remains, bringing the Concordance up through the latest So Spake Martin entries and possibly pulling in new information revealed in the Game of Thrones RPG.

Official Site Update

At GRRM’s official site, the "For Collectors" section has been updated with information about GRRM’s early writings for fanzines.

GRRM On-Line Signing

If you would like a signed copy of a A Feast for Crows, but can’t get to any of the locations where GRRM will be signing the book, then the Signed Page has the solution for you. GRRM will sign 200 copies of the book for the Signed Page, and pre-ordering for these has now begun. For more details, head over to http://www.signedpage.com/.

Raven Award

At the WorldCon in Glasgow, the Brotherhood without Banners presented us with the first-ever Raven Award, for significant contributions to GRRM-fandom. We were both very thrilled and honoured to be selected as the recipients of this award, and it will undoubtedly spur us to work even harder on the site.

We already said it over at our personal site, but it bears repeating here as well: thank you, everyone! The Brotherhood without Banners is a truly great group of fans.
