HBO Announces Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and House of the Dragon Renewals, Schedule
Great news for fans of the Game of Thrones universe! HBO has officially announced a major commitment to the franchise, confirming renewals for both House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. We had strong hints from little birds that HBO was already prepping filming of season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, but good to have official confirmation. Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content, revealed the news today, setting a release schedule that promises a new season of a Westeros-based series every year through 2028.
Here is the breakdown of the upcoming schedule:
June 13, 2024
House of the Dragon Renewed for Season 3
It’s not usual for HBO to do this even before the premiere, but it seemed a foregone conclusion to everyone (including GRRM and Ryan Condal, based on remarks they have made) that House of the Dragon would see at least one more season. But now the word is official, via a press release from HBO:
The HBO Original drama series HOUSE OF THE DRAGON has been renewed for a third season, ahead of the launch of the second season debuting SUNDAY, JUNE 16 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT) on HBO and streaming on Max.
Short and sweet, as they say.
