Ser Garlan Tyrell

Two golden roses on green

General Information

Ser Garlan Tyrell is the second son of Lord Mace Tyrell, and is called the Gallant after his elder brother Willas decided to give him the name before someone else thought of something to mock him with as he was plump when a youth.. On occasion he bears two golden roses on his shield, to denote his status as second son. He is married to Lady Leonette of House Fossoway, although the branch is not clear.

He is an exceptionally skilled swordsman, but his lack of interest in gaining glory makes him less famous than his younger brother, Ser Loras.

Spoilers

When the western alliance came crashing down on King Stannis at the battle of the Blackwater, it was Ser Garlan who wore Renly Baratheon’s armor and slew the famous Ser Guyard Morrigen, among others. When spoils were divided afterwards, he was raised to Lord of Brightwater (formerly the seat of the attainted House Florent). He eventually departed King’s Landing, escorting his grandmother and mother back to Highgarden. When the ironborn attack the Reach, he joins his elder brother Willas in attempting to raise a defense against them.
