Preview
Remember where we left off at the end of the last season? Keep that in mind as the third season opens, or you might find yourself a little confused to start with; the transition could have been smoother. Once we’re past that point, the first episodes continues to do much the same that the first episode of last season did, namely to catch us up with most of the vast cast of characters.
Beyond the Wall, Jon Snow gets a royal audience, which includes the introduction of two new characters that a lot of people have been looking forward to. He also gets to see something he hadn’t seen before; its a nice little surprise for the viewers, as well.
In King’s Landing, the battle and its aftermath has significantly shifted the political landscape, especially as far as Tyrion is concerned. He finds himself in a very different situation from before and he’s not at all happy about it. He is hardly cheered by his encounters with his sister and his father, either, or by the sudden rise to prominence of the Tyrells. Then again, neither is Cersei, who finds herself at odds with her son’s new intended. Of course, there are those who are even worse off, such as those who were on the losing side of the Battle of the Blackwater…
Across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys has set sail for a new city, hoping it will bring her the army that she failed to find in Qarth.
