Author George R. R. Martin has been a longtime supporter of Wild Spirit. He and his wife have named ten of the rescued wolves after the five dire wolves and five characters from Martin’s international best-selling series A Song of Ice and Fire, published by Bantam Books, an imprint of Random House, and the basis of the hit HBO series Game of Thrones.

The George R. R. Martin Box was launched by Random House on October 3rd, and the Ultra Limited Edition sold out in the first three weeks. Priced at $600, it includes a bonded leather-bound version of the 20th Anniversary Collectible Edition of A Game of Thrones signed by author George R. R. Martin, as well as an exclusive t-shirt, a reproduction of Robert Baratheon’s will from the HBO series, an iron coin of the Faceless Man, a Living Language Dothraki online course, A Game of Thrones: The Card Game with an exclusive card, holiday sigil shield lights, exclusive miniatures of Lord Commander Jon Snow and Queen Daenerys, an exclusive Maester’s journal, and a limited edition silk map of King’s Landing. All items are packaged in a wood box, lined in velvet, numbered and engraved with George R. R. Martin’s symbol.

The Limited Edition ($200) and Special Edition ($75) boxes are still available for order at grrmbox.com.

Scott Shannon, EVP and Publisher of Digital Content at Random House said, “The Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary is a fantastic resource and presence for this endangered animal. Random House is proud to partner with George to support their efforts on this special occasion.”

Leyton Cougar, Executive Director of Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary, said, ““Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary is thrilled to announce that Random House has donated Ultra Limited Edition Box #001 to us as a fundraiser to benefit our rescues! We are extremely grateful to them and to George R. R. Martin for all his continuous support in making sure that our very own Westeros Pack and all the other rescues here are happy and well taken care of.”

Author George R. R. Martin said, “I’ve always been fond of wolves… direwolves in Westeros, and real wolves in the real world. US wolf populations hit critical lows during the twentieth century, and finding a way for humans to co-exist with these majestic creatures is an important part of the conservation movement.”
