Fire and Blood Pilot Allegedly Going Forward

In all the reactions to the news that Jane Goldman’s pilot has gotten a pass from HBO, we missed Michael Ausiello of TV Line—who we know has a lot of sources in the industry—reporting that the Ryan Condal-helmed Fire & Blood-based project has an official order for its pilot. To quote Ausiello:

Meanwhile, HBO is expected to move forward with another Game of Thrones prequel project, this one that would trace the glory days of House Targaryen. The project has earned an official pilot order at HBO. The spinoff is co-created by GoT book author George R.R. Martin and Colony creator Ryan J. Condal, and is set 300 years before the original Thrones series, chronicling “the beginning of the end for House Targaryen.”

While we’re less than certain the “300 years” figure is quite right—we’re pretty sure the show relates to the Dance of the Dragons, from reporting elsewhere—we do know that earlier this month George had said he hoped to have “good news” about the successors. While it looks like the news was not good for the Goldman pilot, this combined with Ausiello’s track record seems promising.
