Westeros

Variety reports that three of the main roles for the in-production 2nd season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms have been cast. One of the names was leaked awhile ago, I believe, but the other two seem new to us—and two, at least, are exciting to us.

Playing Lady Rohanne Webber will by actress Lucy Boynton, who has appeared in increasingly high-profile work, with a notable role playing Jane Asher in the Sam Mendes four-film Beatles series. Her name was out there on the web awhile ago, so we’re not surprised. Called the Red Widow, Lady Rohanne has a fearsome reputation. In the novella, she’s also notably very short, which Boynton is not particularly. Still, she’s a good deal shorter than Ser Duncan the Tall, so that’ll do! We’ve not personally seen her in anything of note, but talk online suggests she’s an excellent choice.

Next up in the role of Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield is Babou Cessay who, we have to say, is one of the best parts of (the rather uneven, to be honest) Alien: Earth series where he plays Morrow, a ferocious, cold-blooded cyborg security officer working for the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. He should make an excellently unpleasant Bennis, a hedge knight with a mean streak and a bad reputation that Dunk and Egg will find themselves having to work alongside.

And last, but far from least, is Peter Mullan as Ser Eustace Osgrey, employer of Ser Duncan the Tall and Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield, a man past his best years looking backwards as he nurses old grievances and pride. Mullan’s such a perfect pick for the role. Mullan’s featured in many shows over the decades, but some may remember his turns in HBO’s Westworld, Ozark, and more recent turns as Durin III in Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and as Vesemir in The Witcher. Going to be very interesting to see his interpretation of the character.

As noted earlier, the 2nd season is already under way, with some recent reports suggesting that they may have been spotted already filming (or preparing to film) in the Canary Islands following Ira Parker himself stating they were planning to film in Spain.
