HBO has unleashed a wave of promotion for the “Iron Anniversary”, marking the 10th year since A Game of Thrones premiered. To mark the occasion, a teaser has been made… and many things have been planned during the month-long celebration, including some new and unique collaborations, curated viewing experiences, and a “MaraThrone” series binge which will bring actors from the show to rally fans towards giving to a number of charitable causes.
One of the most unique of the collaborations is with the world-famous jeweler firm Fabergé, who is producing a one-of-a-kind jewelled egg. More details below.
Created in collaboration with Game of Thrones costume designer Michelle Clapton, the Game of Thrones egg is a truly spectacular piece featuring white gold, numerous crystals and diamonds, and a pear-cut ruby as part of a miniature three-headed dragon crown that represents the crown Daenaerys Targaryen might have worn. Fabergé released its own video teasing the collaboration, using Ramin Djawadi’s iconic score:
The website notes that sale enquiries for this one-of-a-kind piece can be made… but looking at the details of other, recent jewelled eggs Fabregé has created, it’ll set you back somewhere in the high six-figures to low seven-figures…

There’s now a Spotlight Page for Game of Thrones that will offer curated content, including collections of behind-the-scenes extras, interviews, and more which were released over het years.
From April 10th, the Game of Thrones “MaraThrone” will begin and will last two weeks. To quote: “Cast members will rally the fandom to contribute to one of ten noble causes: Women for Women International, World Central Kitchen, Conservation International, International Rescue Committee (IRC), UNICEF, FilmAid International, SameYou, Royal Mencap Society, National Urban League and The Trevor Project. A selection of superfans and influencers will receive a custom MaraThrone kit with fun essentials to aid in their marathon viewing experiences, while six unique marathon “routes” will offer a little direction to fans who want to experience the series in a whole new way. Viewers may choose from episode collections focused on the entire series, follow the Mother of Dragons through her most fiery moments, journey with Arya to Braavos and beyond, binge the best battles, watch the Army of the Dead come to life, or relive the series’ biggest spoiler episodes all over again.”
Later in April, HBO will surprise three couples who had Westeros-themed ceremonies with special anniversary gifts such as branded barrels of wine, custom-made chalices, and elaborate cakes.
Danish craft beer company Mikkeller will produce a range of beers, with the first in the assortment dubbed “Iron Anniversary IPA”.
Funko Pop! will release a set of new figures for the occasion, inlcuding iron-textured limited editions.
