Ruby Ford Lithographs Still Available

With House of the Dragon, the now-filming Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and all sorts of other tidbits (we’ll get into those in other posts) drawing renewed attention to George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, a surprising blast from the past showed up when comic illustrator Mike S. Miller—best remembered by GRRM fans as the artist behind the comic adaptations of the Dunk and Egg novellas—tweeted that someone had found the order page for his lithograph of Robert Baratheon and Rhaegar Targaryen at the Ruby Ford… and actually orderd it, which reminded him he still had some of the lithographs floating around.

And now you, too, can order (while supplies last) the first (and, as far as I am aware, only) officially licensed lithograph artwork for A Song of Ice and Fire by visiting Miller’s website and clicking the “Buy Now” link.

For some history on the lithographs, see below!

The lithograph series was first announced way, way back in 2003 as part of a series of four limited edition lithographs. Those other lithographs never came to fruition, in part—per Mike in his recent tweet—that “Renly’s Peach”, as it was called (guessing this was the scene from A Clash of Kings where Renly and Stannis have their parley), hadn’t shaped up how he wanted. But the first lithograph, depicting the final moments of Rhaegar Targaryen’s life during the Battle of the Trident, did indeed come out, and sold briskly.

However, the fandom back in 2003 was not quite the fandom that it is now in terms of size. And hence, some copies remain. It’s a gorgeous piece of work, and we think an influential one in some ways as a number of depictions of the Trident after this seemed to take some cues from Miller’s depiction.
