A Wiki of Ice and Fire has had a major upgrade! Alongside bringing the wiki’s underlying software up to date, we’ve refreshed its appearance and added features to make it easier to explore, read and contribute to.

We took major inspiration from the Citizen skin and the terrific Tolkien Gateway and its use of Citizen. Their work helped guide our approach as we developed our own Tweeki-based skin, retaining a distinctly Wiki of Ice and Fire identity.

Today marks GRRM’s 78th birthday, and there’s a nice early gift for George ahead of the occasion, thanks to A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms winning its very first Emmy Award in its inaugural outing!

At the 78th Emmy Awards, the series took home the award for Outstanding Stunt Performance. The award went to the stunt performers Zach Roberts, Gyula Tóth, Chris Cox and Jake Cox for their (spectacular) work on “In the Name of the Mother,” the fifth episode of the show’s first season which featured the much-anticipated trial of seven sequence.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms had received nine nominations in all, including Outstanding Drama Series, which was a great result for the show.

George nevertheless had plenty of reason to celebrate, and took part in pre-Emmy and afterparty events, as well as attending the award show alongside show runner Ira Parker and actors Peter Claffey, Dexter Sol Ansell, and more from the show.

We’ve just published an exclusive interview with Michael Shaeffer, who plays Aerys II Targaryen in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Game of Thrones: The Mad King.

Shaeffer discusses how he unexpectedly came to the role, why he approached Aerys through the traumas of Summerhall, Duskendale and his troubled family history rather than simply playing him as “mad,” and how The World of Ice & Fire and Westeros.org helped inform his research.

The cat’s out of the bag: George R.R. Martin has announced that Game of Thrones: The Mad King, the new stage play which is completing its premiere run with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon this Saturday, is headed to London in 2027.

GRRM shared the news on his Not a Blog. The official website now confirms that the RSC production will come to London next year, with the venue and performance dates still to be announced. Fans can sign up there for news and priority access to tickets.
