On Watching House of the Dragon on the Big Screen

This last month has been one of the busiest I can remember, with road trips to neighboring Norway and Denmark and all sorts of other things, so we’ve been a bit behind in getting the initial content out for episode one, “A Son for a Son”. We’re now trying to rectify that by catching up with a report on our attending a special screening of the premiere episode of House of the Dragon in Stockholm, including some thoughts in sparked in response to a critic’s commentary on the cinematography of the new season.

But first, one part of being so busy is that while we pushed out our commentary video soon after the first episode aired, we thought we’d make a post about it sometime during what turned out to be a very long evening post-screening. So, for those who’ve missed it, here’s our video:

And now to discussing the screening, and whether the show’s cinematography has gotten worse since Miguel Sapochnik left.

Contest: Attend the European Premiere of House of the Dragon

We’ve an exciting opportunity for fans of Game of Thrones who are excited about the forth-coming House of the Dragon! Thanks to HBO Max Netherlands, we have a number of tickets that we’re giving away to attend the European premiere of House of the Dragon on August 11th. The event will be a grand affair taking place at the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam, featuring members of the cast and crew as well as the Dragon’s Den, a unique interactive experience that will open first for guests of the premiere before opening for the general public on the 12th and 13th of August. House of the Dragon Premieres August 21, 2022

A dragon egg on the verge of hatching accompanies the announcement from HBO that House of the Dragon will premiere on August 21st of this year. Along with the poster, HBO has also sent out eight new images featuring a variety of characters from the series, that you can see below.

With a ten episode run, that means it’ll end on October 23rd… just two days prior to the release of The Rise of the Dragon. Interesting timing, that… For more on this informational art book that very much ties in to the events covered by House of the Dragon, see here.

Season 3 Trailer Premieres Tomorrow

Well, this is a surprise: the season 3 trailer for Game of Thrones will get its world premiere on Jimmy Kimmel Live this Friday, with it going up on Youtube immediately after the East Coast airing. Here’s the press release, straight from HBO:
