The So Spake Martin collection has been updated with a link to an interview with GRRM conducted by Entertainment Weekly, drawing from a pool of questions submitted by fans. There are some very candid and interesting answers, as well as information regarding the proposed HBO series which confirms details previously reported, including something only hinted at in our earlier report: HBO has gone so far as to conduct a budget study for the project.

Fans of George R.R. Martin should check out this contest for Advance Reading Copies of the newest Wildcards novel, Inside Straight, and this one for a copy of the audiobook for Dreamsong Volume I. The latter allows one entry each day, through the 22nd of December.
GRRM’s official site has been updated with a post at“Not a Blog”, pointing to a review of Inside Straight as well as to an interview on the same subject.. His “News” page has also been updated with links to audio excerpts from A Feast for Crows and Dreamsongs (Volume 1, Volume 2, Volume 3). Finally, “Appearances” has been updated with a launch party for Inside Straight.
GRRM’s official site has been updated with a series of posts at “Not a Blog”, providing a brief report concerning the recent World Fantasy Con (so good that he and Parris plan to attend next year’s convention in Calgary), a lengthy (and very interesting) explanation of the role of himself and John J. Miller in a DC comic book that is now called Salvation Run and is being written by another writer, a mention of the forthcoming release of Inside Straight ,and a brief mutter regarding recent football games.
As previously discussed here, among the artists working on The World of Ice and Fire is the famed Tolkien illustrator Ted Nasmith. Ted has now been kind enough to give a sneak peak of some of the thirteen paintings of great castles of the Seven Kingdoms that he’ll be contributing. You can find them here.
Ted also remarks that he’ll be working on one of the limited editions of the series for Subterranean Press.
In their latest update, Dark Sword Miniatures have posted pictures of all ten miniatures which will be released in the week after Thanksgiving, including two new Night’s Watch figures. Besides those images, there are also some size-comparison photos featuring Cersei and Jaime, and Loras Tyrell and the Hound, to give a better sense of the relative scale of the figures. Also, according to a post on their forum from October 25th, they’re planning to give out a special certificate for those who buy the first 99 complete sets of the first series of figures, and that all those who order a complete set will be entered in a drawing for various interesting items.

Via ICv2, we learn that Dabel Brothers Productions have now signed a distribution agreement with Del Ray. They are projected to release three books in Spring 2008, and will be Dean Koontz’s Frankenstein: Prodigal Son, Jim Butcher’s The Dresden Files, and George R. R. Martin’s Wild Cards (written by Daniel Abraham, and previously discussed here).

As many are aware, the Writer’s Guild of America has begun a strike over various issues. What this means for the entertainment industry in the States is that the writers will not work on anything at all until the issues are resolved. Shows that have episodes filmed will likely have them shown, but their seasons will likely come to a close early in most cases. The question that has recently come up in several places is what the strike means for the option held by HBO for producing a show based on the series.
The webcomic CTRL+ALT+DEL, known for its references both to gaming and to genre film and literature, has a new strip that involves a joke about the new game, Assassin’s Creed, but with a punchline that’ll be very familiar indeed to “A Song of Ice and Fire fans. This is not the first time that the series has been mentioned

The limited edition of George R.R. Martin’s Fevre Dream, with illustrations by the award-winning Justin Sweet, is now at the printer. Bill over at Subterranean Press suggests that the slipcases will be ready by January, suggesting that as a probable shipping date.
Entertainment Weekly’s PopWatch Blog will be conducting an interview with George and has asked for questions to be submitted by readers.
A couple of the individuals from Green Ronin have shared some juicy tidbits about the on-going work for the A Song of Ice and Fire Roleplaying Game that they will be publishing next year. First, Robert J. Schwalb posted about the fact that an intrigue system (for social combat) and a mass combat system were in the works. Then a playtester followed up with some more information and then followed it up with a much more detailed preview of certain facets of the game system. All in all, it sounds like excellent work is being done by Green Ronin.
John Jos. Miller, a long-time member of the Wild Cards writing team and currently writing the first Wild Cards RPG campaign book for Green Ronin, has revealed in this post that the rights to the first eight books in the series have finally been reverted to the creators after being in limbo following the collapse of iBooks. This means that with any luck they’ll soon be reprinted by a new publisher. Unfortunately, the two books written specifically for iBooks, Deuces Down and Death Draws Five, have not been reverted and remain with the publisher who bought up the iBooks catalog, BrickTower Press. Their intentions are unclear.
In other news, Tor will be preparing an official site for Wild Cards in the lead up to the publication of Insight Straight.
