The So Spake Martin collection has been updated with a link to a new interview with George, which also features Daniel Abraham and Gardner Dozois as it’s primarily focused on the forthcoming release of Hunter’s Run.
In case nothing comes of the HBO series, perhaps ASoIaF could get on TV anyway ... in South Park style? If so, it might look something like this. ;)
It’s just been announced that Green Ronin, the RPG producer that recently acquired the A Song of Ice and Fire license following the closure of Guardians of Order, have picked up the rights to produce a line of Wild Cards roleplaying game books for their acclaimed Mutants & Masterminds RPG. John Jos. Miller is set to create the first entry in the line, the Wild Cards Campaign Setting. A press release with comments from Green Ronin and George R.R. Martin can be found here.
Newsarama has an informative interview with Les Dabel, in which he answers some of the questions fans have had regarding the future of the properties left with Marvel and DB Pro’s own plans following the previously announced parting of ways.
Subterranean Press has just announced that Hunter’s Run, the novel-length expansion of the “Shadow Twin” novella by Daniel Abraham, Gardner Dozois, and George R.R. Martin, is now available for order in its limited edition forms. As a special incentive, the limited edition’s price has been reduced by $10 through to the 20th of August.
A press release from Marvel Comics and Dabel Brothers Productions has been making the rounds, announcing that their recent publishing partnership—in which DB Pro would create a slate of books which Marvel would distribute—is coming to a close. Most notably is the fact that all the current books (including Hege Knight II: Sworn Sword, which is currently in its third issue, two different Orson Scott Card adaptions, and the popular Laurell K. Hamilton Anita Blake comics) that have been released under the Marvel logo will continue with them. It is unclear whether creative teams will be changing due to this, or whether DB Pro will continue to participate in these projects through to their completion.

Mike S. Miller, artist on Hedge Knight II: Sworn Sword, has stated both in private correspondence and in Newsarama’s forum that the creative team for the book will remain unchanged.

Hot on the heels of the news that George R. R. Martin and Gardner Dozois were editing an anthology with the title of Warriors, news has just slipped via Dan Simmons that they’re putting together a second anthology, Songs of the Dying Earth featuring stories set in Jack Vance’s Dying Earth setting.
We’ve had a hint of this earlier, but were sworn to secrecy—but no longer! According to GRRM’s latest update on official site, Tom Meier and Dark Sword Miniatures have teamed together to release a new line of premiere pewter miniatures in the 28mm scale. A number of pictures are included of Jon Snow, Melisandre, and Sandor Clegane miniatures. George’s own thoughts can be found here.
The So Spake Martin collection has been updated with a number of reports from this past weekend’s Trinoc*Con, where GRRM made an appearance. Some interesting tidbits include George’s remarks on the warging abilities of the Stark children, future Dunk and Egg stories, the Sandsnakes, and more.
The comic book blog Make Mine Marvel has posted a preview of Hedge Knight II: Sworn Sword #3. Though there are some compression artifacts, it’s an excellent sneak peek.

As reported earlier, joining Justin Sweet in illustrating the The World of Ice and Fire is Ted Nasmith, who along with John Howe and Alan Lee is widely considered to be one of the best artists working to bring J.R.R. Tolkien’s work to visual life. Ted has posted his own confirmation of his involvement, calling it a “wonderful project, and a refreshing (if temporary) departure…” He also promises to post a few images of what he’s done on the website, so keep your eyes open.
Yvonne Gilbert has been nominated for the Chesley Awards in the Best Interior Illustration category for her work on George R.R. Martin’s The Ice Dragon. Also nominated in the same category is Justin Sweet (set to illustrate The World of Ice and Fire world book) for his contribution to Kull: Exile of Atlantis.
Valyrian Resin have greatly expanded the list of countries which they can ship their limited edition, sculpted resins of characters from George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, including the U.K., Germany, Spain, and more. They’re working on adding yet more overseas locations, so if you’re country isn’t on the list now, check the site every once in a while and see if anything’s changed.
Justin Sweet has confirmed while at San Diego Comic-Con that he is one of the artists who’ll be featured in The World of Ice and Fire. His work will include a painting of the Hound, Sandor Clegane. He noted that Ted Nasmith is also working on the book, providing a series of landscape paintings, something which Mr. Nasmith discussed as a possibility late last year.
