Official Site Update

GRRM’s official site has been updated with news and a link concerning his recent appearance on Second Life, new entries in "From My Readers", and a new piece of cover art from the Japanese edition of the A Song of Ice and Fire series.

Hedge Knight II Release

Dabel Brothers Productions and Marvel will have the first issue of The Hedge Knight II: The Sworn Sword on shelves tomorrow, June 20th. With Ben Avery and Mike S. Miller on the project, you can be sure this is going to be an excellent adaption of George R. R. Martin’s original novella. There’ll be two covers, one by Miller and one by Lenil Yu. Make sure to drop by your local comic shop and get a copy (or two)!

Board Fundraiser

It’s that time again, folks! The A Song of Ice and Fire board needs your support to continue going. While the hosting is generously provided by Sparks, our terrific site admin, the costs of keeping the board running are not insignificant. We’ve currently set up a Fundable group action for $750. This is more than the previous fundraisers, because we’ve decided to move from twice-yearly fundraising efforts to annual. We believe the community is certainly capable of raising this kind of funding.

Fundable.org allows users to submit donations via Paypal or major credit cards, so everyone should be able to contribute. The group action will be open for 25 days, with a minimum donation of $10 (if you can’t manage quite that much, but would still like to contribute, please contact us and we’ll see if we can help arrange your contribution).

To go to the group action, go here. And please do feel free to spread the word around to other fans and supporters of the website!

Valyrian Resin Sneak Peeks

After a bit of radio silence, it looks like Haute Productions has been moving well-ahead with their MySpace page. The images feature resin statues of the Hound, Daenerys Targaryen, and Eddard Stark in various states of completion.

So Spake Martin Update

The So Spake Martin collection has been updated with a report from the Opus Festival in Denver and a brief video plus complete transcript from George R. R. Martin’s appearance on Second Life.

GRRM’s Second Life Appearance

Bantam has just noted to us that they have made available on their site a video of GRRM’s Second Life appearance where he read from Dreamsongs and from A Dance with Dragons as well as answered some questions from the audience.

Official Site Update

GRRM’s official site has been updated with news concerning the forthcoming publication of Hunter’s Run, his collaboration with Daniel Abraham and Gardner Dozois which has been extended to novel-length from an original novel.

Subterranean Press on Fevre Dream

Bill over at Subterranean Press has provided an update on the forthcoming, illustrated limited edition of Fevre Dream. The update includes a look at the gorgeous cover. Also included in the update is news regarding the Thomas Canty-illustrated limited edition of A Feast For Crows, which is quickly approaching completion.

Second Life Update

GRRM’s appearance in Second Life on the 31st, at 9 PM EST, will be syndicated by a number of affiliate sites in-game to deal with the fact that locations can only carry up to 60 people at a time. You’ll be able to listen to the proceedings (which will feature a reading by GRRM and then a short Q&A) through these affiliates, and submit questions via IM. To find out more, including a list of the affiliates, see here.

Official Site Update

GRRM’s official site has been updated with an update to the "Not a Blog" revealing eight little-known things about George and an update to "Appearances" with an event in Taos, New Mexico.

Sworn Sword Comic Release Date

The Dabel Brothers have announced the release date for The Hedge Knight II: The Sworn Sword #1: June 20th, 2007. The announcement includes information concerning how to ask your local comic book store to put in an order for it as well as to be a participant in “Westeros Wednesday”. The retailer kit will include postcards with information for a special contest, in which a lucky fan will be turned into a character in one of DB Pro’s comics!

Second Life GRRM

It’s been announced that George R. R. Martin will be doing a reading of a story from Dreamsongs (Volume 1, Volume 2) on Second Life, a graphical secondary world social game. He’ll also take questions from readers. GRRM’s avatar will be selected by people who vote at Bantam Dell’s website, so vote now!

Audiobook of Dreamsongs

GRRM has posted on his "Not a Blog" that an audiobook will be produced of Dreamsongs (Volume 1Volume 2), the massive and exceptional collection of a large part of the body of George’s short fiction from his earliest days to the present. A number of different readers will be involved, and most fascinating of all is that George himself will be reading the interstitial introductions to each section of the book. These are some of the best parts of an already-great collection, thanks to the autobiographical insight into George’s life and work.

Note that the "Not a Blog" entry also includes word on A Dance with Dragons, including semi-spoilerish information.

Official Site Update

GRRM’s official site has been updated with an update to the "News" section regarding Green Ronin’s licensing of the rights to an A Song of Ice and Fire RPG and a new "Not a Blog" entry about what it’s like to have a good day of writing.

Green Ronin to Publish RPG

Green Ronin has announced that they have acquired the license to produce an RPG based on A Song of Ice and Fire, following the dissolution of Guardians of Order. Details are thin just now (there’s a little information here), but no doubt there’ll be more soon.
