Preorder Limited Feast for Crows

As previously reported here, the publisher of the limited edition “A Song of Ice and Fire” series, Subterranean PressA Feast for Crows limited edition, with art by Thomas Canty. The pre-order page< is now up

, and includes three of Canty’s gorgeous, delicate pencils. Getting ahold of original Canty art is quite difficult, a collector has told us, so the chance to win some of the original art is a great reason to order now.

Bill from Subterranean Press has dropped by the board to share some exciting news regarding the limited edition of A Feast for Crows, with illustrations provided by Thomas Canty. For those who don’t have time to check the board, here’s what he’s written.

Hedge Knight Hardcover

According to Diamond’s shipping list, Marvel’s and DB Pro’s re-release of the acclaimed comic book adaption of George R.R. Martin’s “The Hedge Kngiht” is due to be made available starting tommorow.

GRRM’s official site has been updated with an extensive update of his “Not a Blog”, which includes information concerning the progress he’s made on various fronts but also the fact that A Dance with Dragons has not progressed as far as he hoped because of the various disturbances and obligations he had. He will not finish it by the end of this year, and will no longer post speculation as to when it will be done. In the “News” section, GRRM has announced that he has concluded negotiations to allow Haute Productions to produce miniature busts based on the series, and possible future production of pre-painted resin statues and even a chess set. The sculptor, Justice Joseph, is well-regarded in the business.

Other updates include some new foreign edition covers in “Cover Art”.

Storm of Swords Wins Award

The Spanish edition of A Storm of Swords, titled Tormenta de Espadas, won this year’s Ignatus Award for Best Foreign Novel. Congratulations to GRRM and the good folks at his Spanish publisher, Gigamesh!

Bioware Takes Inspiration From GRRM

Bioware, makes of such classics as Baldur’s Gate, Neverwinted Nights, and Knights of the Old Republix, are working on a new computer roleplaying game called Dragon Age. What’s interesting for GRRM fans is the fact that Bioware has stated that they’ve taken some inspiration from “A Song of Ice and Fire”.

GRRM’s official site has been updated with his latest loss in the literary awards season in the "News" section, but it’s more than made up for it by the excellent sales of the A Feast for Crows paperback. "From My Readers" is also updated with several new entries.

In addition to the updates previously reported on at GRRM’s official site, there has now also been an update to the “Ice & Fire” section, giving some more detail on the A Dance with Dragons progress.

GRRM’s official site has an updated “Not a Blog” entry recapping his recent travels. He concludes with the plan to try and get A Dance with Dragons completed by the end of this year, and mentions fruitful discussions with editors at a number of publishers, including comics publishers such as Marvel, DC, and Random House Comics. There is also an update in "News" regarding the re-publishing of The Hedge Knight graphic novel by Dabel Brothers Productions in hardcover, thanks to DB Pro’s partnership with Marvel; the "Cover ARt" gallery has been updated to include the two editions of the hardcover will sport.

Quills Awards Results

After much searching, we’ve finally found a list of the results for the Quill Awards, in which A Feast for Crows was nominated for best science fiction, fantasy, or horror novel. While AFfC did not win, Diana Gabaldon—one of his fellow authors in Legends 2—took away the prize for her latest Outlander novel, A Breath of Snow and Ashes.

A Feast for Crows Sightings

With the close releases of George’s The Ice Dragon and the paperback edition of A Feast for Crows, it’s no great surprise that the finely-tuned marketing publishing marketing machine is going all-out to capture attention. Following on the heels of ]this advertismentbeing spotted on CNN.com and this promotional interview for The Ice Dragon on YouTube, we’ve just learned that there has been at least one television spot on the History Channel promoting Feast.
