Official Site Update

GRRM’s official site has been updated with a series of posts at “Not a Blog”, providing a brief report concerning the recent World Fantasy Con (so good that he and Parris plan to attend next year’s convention in Calgary), a lengthy (and very interesting) explanation of the role of himself and John J. Miller in a DC comic book that is now called Salvation Run and is being written by another writer, a mention of the forthcoming release of Inside Straight ,and a brief mutter regarding recent football games.

Official Site Update

GRRM’s official site has been updated with the official announcement for Songs of the Dying Earth, a Jack Vance tribute anthology edited by George and Gardner Dozois. The announcement confirms the publishers as Tor and HarperCollins Voyager, and indicates that the Subterranean Press limited edition will feature illustrations by Charles Vess. GRRM intends to contribute a story, but it will not be written until after A Dance with Dragons is completed. Publication is expected for some time in 2009.

GRRM’s official site has been updated with new posts at "Not a Blog" mentioning a new interview, football, and Parris’s recent knee injury. "What I’m Reading" has also been updated with a brief mention of Daniel Abraham’s A Betrayal in Winter.

GRRM Dying Earth Anthology

Hot on the heels of the news that George R. R. Martin and Gardner Dozois were editing an anthology with the title of Warriors, news has just slipped via Dan Simmons that they’re putting together a second anthology, Songs of the Dying Earth featuring stories set in Jack Vance’s Dying Earth setting.

Warriors Anthology

According to this interview with Robin Hobb, she’ll be contributing to an anthology titled Warriors edited by Gardner Dozois and George R.R. Martin. She indicates that the anthology won’t be published for at least a year, however, so it seems it’s in the early stages yet.

GRRM’s official site has been updated with a post-InConJunction post at “Not a Blog”. In it, he discusses the prologue for A Dance with Dragons, which he read at the convention, and what he thinks he needs to revise in some detail.

Dance with Dragons Update

George has made a new entry on his “Not a Blog”, discussing his progress on A Dance with Dragons, the fact that he’s hired a personal assistant, and his debating not attending a Worldcon for the first time after 21 years.

GRRM’s official site has been updated with news and a link concerning his recent appearance on Second Life, new entries in "From My Readers", and a new piece of cover art from the Japanese edition of the A Song of Ice and Fire series.

GRRM’s Second Life Appearance

Bantam has just noted to us that they have made available on their site a video of GRRM’s Second Life appearance where he read from Dreamsongs and from A Dance with Dragons as well as answered some questions from the audience.

Second Life Update

GRRM’s appearance in Second Life on the 31st, at 9 PM EST, will be syndicated by a number of affiliate sites in-game to deal with the fact that locations can only carry up to 60 people at a time. You’ll be able to listen to the proceedings (which will feature a reading by GRRM and then a short Q&A) through these affiliates, and submit questions via IM. It’s been announced that George R. R. Martin will be doing a reading of a story from Dreamsongs (Volume 1, Volume 2) on Second Life, a graphical secondary world social game. He’ll also take questions from readers. GRRM’s avatar will be selected by people who vote at Bantam Dell’s website, so vote now!
