The 10th anniversary celebration for The World of Ice and Fire continues, with a companion of sorts to our previous image, as we look at another dragon from the Dance. This one seems to have disappeared entirely from House of the Dragon, though it was obliquely referenced in the first season, but we always had a bit of fondness for it. Here is the wild dragon known as the Grey Ghost, a shy creature that kept away from men, and preferred fish to anything else, beautifully rendered by artist Rudolf Hima:
A gifted artist with a particular focus on paleoart—artwork depicting prehistoric animals such as dinosaurs—Rudolf came to our attention something like two years ago when among his art he produced a couple of gorgeous pieces based on Fire and Blood, such as a depiction Battle Beneath the Gods Eye when Maegor the Cruel set Balerion the Black Dread against his nephew Prince Aegon and his much younger, much smaller dragon Quicksilver. We’re incredibly pleased that he was available to work with us on this project… and I suppose it’s worth saying now that he, too, has more work coming that we’ll reveal in the days to come as we work our way to October 28th!
Check back tomorrow for the next image, which will begin another theme, of sorts, that will go through this series of commissioned art pieces.
