166 AC opened with returning exiles and renewed alliances: Mylene Gargalen proclaimed her homecoming to Sunspear, Rylla Tyrell and Myles Hightower announced their betrothal, and the Crackclaw Point kidnappings forced Ser Dermett Corbray, Ser Mathin Lannister, and the royal huntsmen into relentless patrols that ended with Mathin’s arrest, vigil, and trial.
In Dorne the feud between Houses Dalt and Gargalen exploded, prompting Sunspear’s council to banish Willum Gargalen, bring the disputed wells under princely wardship, and weather Prince Marence’s ergot-poisoned collapse even as Joleta Sand resigned her office and Dornish envoys shuttled between the Stormlands and Free Cities.
In the Vale, a wedding between scions of House Hunter and House Corbray is celebrated with a two-day tourney.
The year’s end belonged to the Stormlands: the royal court sailed for Ser Orson Baratheon and Ryone Prester’s wedding only to endure the Great Storm, after which Septon Elwood Hunter and Ser Dermett Corbray led Baelor’s relief host through Griffin’s Roost, fought Vaario Quanis twice over, knighted Arros Beesbury, and returned to King’s Landing with orphans, wounds, and hard lessons.
Day 1: In Sunspear, Mylene Gargalen ends three decades abroad by declaring her intention to dwell again in the Old Palace.
Day 5: Rylla Tyrell and Myles Hightower finalize their long-sought betrothal.
Day 10: Crackclaw Point reports another missing child, and Warden-Designate Ser Dermett Corbray dispatches Ser Mathin Lannister to soothe the villages with alms and watchful swords.
Day 19: Ser Dermett Corbray confronts Hullen Crabb in his own tower, warning that the crown now scrutinizes every disappearance along the drowned roads.
Day 29: Ser Blaise Dalt, heir to Lemonwood, is slain by Ser Willum Gargalen, known as “Wild Will”, in a skirmish over their respective Houses’ rights to a well. A fair amount of bloodshed is thus prompted.
Day 20: Ser Falion Dalt recalls his grandchildren to Lemonwood, sheltering them while the Gargalen quarrel spreads across the Greenblood.
Day 23: Ser Dagur Saltcliffe “the Iron Serpent”, Warden of Crackclaw Point, confronts his officer Ser Mathin Lannister and the man’s good-sister Lady Jyana Lannister. The matter is allegations of Ser Mathin murdering an innocent man, while investigating the disappearances of smallfolk maidens at the Point.
Day 24: Ser Mathin, along with an honor guard of ten Westerlander knights, takes to a vigil at the Royal Sept which eventually lasts more than a moon. It is to end only on the day of a trial announced by the Hand of the King, Prince Viserys; the Prince, in turn, being forced to act due to discontent among the smallfolk of King’s Landing over Lannister’s alleged crime.
Day 30: Tion Mallister, son of Lord Joscelyn “the Just” Mallister of Seagard and his wife Lady Erena of House Lydden, is born in Sunspear, where his father serves as one of the Iron Throne’s ambassadors to Dorne.
Day 6: Having met with his council—including his brothers, Ser Mavros Uller, and Ser Laurent Dalt (among others), Prince Marence at last determines that Ser Willum Gargalen must be exiled to the Free Cities for his part in the death of Ser Blaise Dalt. He also determines that the wells which caused the turmoil will not rest under the dominion of either the Dalts or the Gargalens, but will instead fall under the authority of Sunspear.
Day 6: Robert Corbray, son of Ser Dermett Corbray, heir to Heart’s Home and Officer of the Crackclaw Point Wardenry, and his wife Damia of House Farman, a lady-in-waiting to Lady Lira Arryn, is born in King’s Landing. The labour goes awry, and the babe is delivered at risk of his mother’s life.
Day 9: Ser Perrin Blackmont, head of the Dornish embassy to the Iron Throne, sets out from King’s Landing for the Stormlands with a small escort to, reportedly, discuss trade and other matters with Lord Corwen Baratheon.
Day 10: Roryn Wyl, son of Coran Wyl, heir to Wyl and justiciar, and his wife Lyra of House Fowler, lady-in-waiting to Princess Mariah Martell, is born in Sunspear.
Day 17: Eleven days after childbirth, Lady Damia Corbray succumbs to fever, plunging House Corbray into mourning while the infant heir survives.
Day 18: Outraged that his son’s killer faces only exile, Ser Dinias Dalt prepares to abandon King’s Landing for Planky Town.
Day 19: Ser Orson Baratheon is moved from his post of Officer of the Kingswood Wardenry to the post of Royal Huntsman by Prince Viserys, thus succeeding Ser Dermett Corbray, who was dismissed from the office moons ago.
Day 19: Prince Marence attends a feast of forgiveness in Sunspear, arranged by Mylene Gargalen - a woman notorious for her marriages and passions - and aimed to celebrate reconciliation and peace after the conflict between the Gargalens and Dalts. After the entertainment went badly and a performer was injured, the prince retired soon after… and that evening woke the Old Palace to his screams of terror, insisting that insects were crawling over him. He was calmed by his guards, convinced it was a night terror and no more, and returned to sleep… only to wake screaming that there was a fire. Panic spread, but no fire was evident, despite the feverish prince demanding they put it out. At one point he seemed prepared to leap from the Tower of the Sun in his terror, but was restrained. Frothing at the mouth, screaming, he became unconscious. The maesters came to attend him.
Day 20: Shariffs seal the Old Palace as Prince Rhodry hurries to his brother’s bedside and Ser Robin Santagar floods Sunspear’s streets with patrols.
Day 21: Joleta Gargalen, heir to Salt Shore, indignant at Prince Marence’s recent ruling and particularly the seizure of the well, resigns her post of justiciar and hurriedly retreats from Sunspear to her family’s domains.
Day 22: Kathryn Marbrand, daughter of Ser Jan Marbrand, Warden of the Kingswood, and his wife Elrone of House Darklyn, is born in King’s Landing.
Day 22: While questioning about murders in a potshop of King’s Landing’s Flea Bottom, goldcloaks Ser Ryckon Westerling, Commander of the city’s Dragon Gate, and Ser Roland Hunter, officer, are swept up into a brawl which leaves Hunter gravely injured.
Day 23: Ser Perrin Blackmont and his retinue arrive at Storm’s End, where Lord Baratheon fetes and hosts them.
Day 23: It is said Prince Marence is gravely ill, often kept unconscious with milk of the poppy because he only screams in terror of insects and fire when awakened. Rumor runs rife through Sunspear that he has been poisoned, rumors confirmed when the maesters inform the leading courtiers that they believe Marence suffers from ergot poisoning. The shariffs scour the city for clues, while the courtiers attempt to maintain calm.
Day 12: Incensed at the ruling per which his son’s killer will suffer only exile, Ser Dinias Dalt, the Knight of Lemonwood and a Dornish emissary to King’s Landing, departs for Dorne. Strangely, he is accompanied in his trip by Lord Serry’s wife, Lady Katla.
Day 17: Ser Mathin Lannister stands what is to be a three-day-long trial before three judges, Prince Viserys Targaryen, Lord Jonothor Arryn, and Septon Elwood - a replacement, to some stir, of the Master of Laws, Lord Terin Ryger. Upon accusations of murdering a Cracklaw Point villager, as well as three other men in that Flea Bottom pot shop, due to drunken rage, Lannister readily confesses his guilt. Many a noble of the court attend and some testify. Chief amongst the witnesses are Sers Ryckon Westerling and Roland Hunter. They vouch for the accused’s self-defence and guilt, respectively.
Day 19: On the last day of Ser Mathin’s trial, Ser Hullen Crabb, Knight of the Whispers and liege lord of one victim, offers testimony that his subject survived the wounds inflicted by the Lannister, spurring fierce accusations of bribery by Ser Dagur Saltcliffe. Ser Mathin is finally exonerated, yet also given penance: to lay down his sword and spend time among the septons preaching to the criminals of the Red Keep’s dungeons, which he commences immediately.
Day 20: Furious, Admiral-designate Dagur Saltcliffe orders his Crackclaw garrisons to verify what became of the supposed victim.
Day 21: Prince Viserys removes Ser Dagur Saltcliffe from the post of Warden of Crackclaw Point and appoints him Admiral of the Royal Fleet, second only to the Master of Ships.
Day 22: Ser Dermett Corbray is elevated to the position of Warden of Crackclaw Point, while Ser Roland Hunter is made a bailiff of King’s Landing, thus leaving the City Watch.
Day 28: Ser Eon Hunter weds Alina Corbray, lady-in-waiting to Lady Lira Arryn, at his ancestral home of Longbow Hall; an event marked by an extravagant feast and two days of jousting following.
Day 30: The tourney at Longbow Hall ends with a pitched contest between Ser Peron Stone and Ser Waltyr Stone, the Bastard of Old Anchor, ending in both men fighting afoot after breaking a dozen lances between them. Peron the Pious’s skill with the polaxe proves superior to his opponent’s, breaking his arm and forcing him to yield. Some say the guests from Heart’s Home misliked that two bastards vied for the grand prize, and some whisper that it is an ill omen for the marriage.
Day 1: Ser Bryon Waynwood is named Keeper of the King’s Mews.
Day 2: Birth of Whalon and Jaymar Melcolm, twin sons of Ser Janden “Swiftspur” Melcolm, Master of Horse, and his wife Olianne of House Rosby, a lady-in-waiting at the Red Keep and formerly to Princess Elaena, in King’s Landing.
Day 12: Giselle Wyl is appointed tutor and companion to Princess Mariah Martell.
Day 13: Ser Dinias Dalt reaches Dorne, landing at the Planky Town.
Day 19: Septon Elwood Hunter brings King Baelor’s blessing to his nephew Ser Roland Hunter while the latter convalesces in the Saltcliffe manse.
Day 21: A bear-baiting in the Dragonpit turns deadly until Ser Garlan Hunter leaps into the pit beside Ser Orson Baratheon to finish the beast.
Day 25: A council meeting in Sunspear is held while Prince Marence is deemed too ill to rule. The chief topic at hand is the Dalt-Gargalen feud that grows increasingly volatile, but it becomes plain that the court is bitterly divided, with some siding for Prince Cadan and others for Prince Rhodry. With Prince Marence paralyzed with weakness, nothing can be truly done to resolve the issue, but it is determined that Ser Laurent Dalt should be sent to Lemonwood to attempt to dissuade his kinsmen. Thereafter Princes Cadan and Rhodry quarrel in the castle yard, and Prince Rhodry openly calls for a regency. As for the “Sand Dog’s” attempt, it proves a failure.
Day 26: An angry mob under Ser Dagur Saltcliffe makes for the Lannister Manse in King’s Landing’s Manse Row. Amidst the turmoil, a man-at-arms attempts, and fails, to abduct the ladies Reyna Saltcliffe, “the Silver Rose”, and Jyana Lannister, “the Jewel of the Eyrie”, Mistress of Keys and lady-in-waiting, respectively, to Princess Naerys. After arrest, the attacker is sold into slavery in the Free Cities at the orders of Ser Jonn Lannister, heir to Casterly Rock and husband to Lady Jyana.
Day 29: Ser Kendros “Longaxe” Goodbrook, heir to Goodbrook, weds Eddane Buckler at his ancestral home.
Day 1: Ser Artys Templeton weds Obyra Corbray at Heart’s Home.
Day 4: During a horse fair, the so-called Riot of Breakspear Lane occurs. Smallfolk dismayed at the acquittal of Ser Mathin Lannister jeer Ser Jonn Lannister until he brings his mount down on some of them, at which point they revolt and attack nobles present with rocks and punches.
Day 6: King Baelor, escorted by many a noble, walks barefoot to a tiny sept on a muddy lane of King’s Landing’s Flea Bottom, where the highborn cater to the smallfolk begging largesse. A beggar claiming blindness declares he can miraculously see again due to Baelor’s touch and blessing. The king, delighted, thereafter begins to take even closer counsel with the High Septon and the Most Devout, and orders funds be availed to support the city’s poorer or derelict septs.
Day 7: A Tourney of the Seven in honour of the Gods, arranged by Houses Tully and Mallister, takes place in King’s Landing. Ser Dagur Saltcliffe carries the day by felling Ser Janden Melcolm, with any prizes designated to charity. The day is marred when Ser Durance Darklyn leaves Ser Arion Baratheon, heir to Storm’s End, with a crippled leg after a brutal tilt; Arion is still voted the most virtuous knight in attendance and gifted a fine altar cloth sewn by Lady Elyse Meadows in penance for unladylike behaviour.
Day 7: Dalt men-at-arms under Ser Darion Fowler raid Gargalen lands, burning out a village and its associated olive fields. At court in Sunspear, parties begin forming around the Prince’s brothers as each lays claim to the regency.
Day 9: A missive arrives from Lady Yronwood, questioning the betrothal of her heir Farien to Ariana Martell, suggesting that Sunspear would be strengthened by instead having Farien wed Marence’s daughter Mariah. The fact that she is betrothed to Prince Daeron Targaryen, kinsman to King Baelor, is said to be a mere inconvenience. The court attempts to keep this demand from the Yronwoods quiet, but rumors soon reach many ears.
Day 10: News of the attack by the Dalts reaches Sunspear, and again the court is unable to effectively act.
Day 12: House Gargalen retaliates by attacking a caravan from Lemonwood, slaughtering the men-at-arms guarding it and taking all the valuables. Selara Dalt, the new heir to Lemonwood and lady-in-waiting to Joleta Gargalen, leaves the latter’s service due to the violence twixt their Houses.
Day 15: The Gargarlens continue to press the Dalts, burning lemon groves.
Day 20: Mountain clans assail Gwenda Redfort’s escort near Wickenden, leaving her bruised but unbowed as she presses south.
Day 27: After days of small skirmishes, the bloodiest clash yet between Salt Shore and Lemnwood with fifteen dead, twice as many wounded, and half a dozen prisoners on each side held for ransom.
Day 4: Having slowly recovered with his wits, but still much weakened in body, Prince Marence is able to call his councillors to persuade them—with his maesters—that he can resume his rule.
Day 5: It is said Prince Marence calls his feuding brothers together in a private meeting. Later, it is announced that the prince has ordered a levy of forces from and around the shadow city to be under the joint command of the princes Cadan and Rhodry with the aim of preventing further conflict between the Gargalens and Dalts.
Day 5: Prince Aegon Targaryen returns to King’s Landing from his sojourn to Braavos where he served as an emissary of the Iron Throne, aboard a ship captained by a notorious smuggler and pirate, Bellegere Otherys “the Black Pearl”. Though great with child, she does not stay long.
Day 9: The host under Prince Cadan and Prince Rhodry rides forth.
Day 13: Martell forces reach boundary of Dalt-Gargalen lands and place themselves between the feuding sides, preventing violent contact. Rumor has it the two commanders, Rhodry and Cadan, have not spoken since riding from Sunspear, each commanding half the force separately from one another.
Day 15: A penitent Lord Bolen Rosby’s debts to the Crown are forgiven by the Faith, by word of Septon Elwood.
Day 15: Ser Quinlan Qorgyle, father of the Martell princes, arrives unexpectedly in Sunspear after having largely been away from the Old Palace when his influence dwindled in the face of new and notable figures such as Ser Mavros Uller.
Day 16: Prince Marence, still weary of body, calls his court and informs them that he has named his father Lord Protector of Dorne, a position he held many years earlier when Prince Marence came to rule while in his minority. The prince further adds that his recovery is proving slow, and he has opted to retire from the court for the time in the hopes that solitude and rest will restore him.
Day 17: Ser Quinlan dispatches ravens to Salt Shor and Lemonwood, curtly offering amnesty for past disobedience provided they lay down arms and restore order to their lands.
Day 18: After a two-month stay in Dorne, Lady Katla Serry sails from the Planky Town to Essos, and, per rumour, beyond.
Day 20: The feud ends as princes Rhodry and Cadan meet with the leaders of the Gargalen and Dalt forces, receiving their renewed oaths of fealty on Marence’s behalf, and make preparations to return with their force to Sunspear.
Day 22: Lord Gelion Sunderland makes his first appearance at royal court for the betrothal of his heir Arnos Sunderland to Bessa Hunter, sole daughter of Harlan Hunter, heir to Longbow Hall. The proposed match is overshadowed when Kelanna Stone, Lord Gelion’s bastard niece, appears at the banquet, provoking open disapproval from Ser Dermett Corbray and Ser Farin Prester.
Day 24: The Martell host arrives at Sunspear. Prince Rhodry and Prince Cadan, having learned late of their father’s elevation to Lord Protector, report to him.
Day 25: Ser Mavros Uller, Keeper of the Tower of the Sun, resigns his office, citing weariness. Rumors run rife that Ser Quinlan demanded his retirement from court, though Ser Mavros indicates otherwise.
Day 27: Marence is taken by litter to Planky Town with a large escort (including two maesters), and takes ship to Starfall after the suggestion of Elysa Dayne, who arranges with Lady Alia his residence there for a time—far from court and its troubles—until sufficiently recovered to take up the rule of Dorne again. His younger son Prince Malor joins him as his cupbearer.
Day 3: Septon Elwood Hunter presses Ser Dermett Corbray for tangible progress in the Crackclaw heresy before the trail goes cold.
Day 9: Gwenda Redfort wins Ser Dermett’s discreet archery contest beneath the Kingswood eaves.
Day 12: Gwydion Corbray, son of Ser Astos Corbray and his wife Belissa of House Caron, a lady-in-waiting to Princess Naerys Targaryen, is born at Heart’s Home, where his parents sojourn.
Day 16: A small archery tourney in King’s Landing is won by Ser Orson Baratheon, the Royal Huntsman.
Day 20: Septon Elwood Hunter reaches Crackclaw Point at last to confer with Hullen Crabb about rooting out the fires of R’hllor.
Day 21: Septon Elwood’s probe into heresy at the Whispers and Crackclaw Point at large descends into acrimony, and he sails back to King’s Landing in a huff.
Day 27: Ser Arion Baratheon, heir to Storm’s End, is betrothed to Lady Alys Swann, daughter of Lord Allos Swann of Stonehelm, the King’s Counter.
Day 8: Many courtiers sail from King’s Landing to Storm’s End aboard the Stag of the Sea, to attend a wedding in the Stormlands.

Day 19: The travelling party make landfall at Storm’s End.
Day 20: Ser Orson Baratheon weds Ryone Prester at Storm’s End. Many and more of the court are present, including Prince Aegon, escorted by Ser Kenric Darry of the Kingsguard. During the dancing, Prince Aegon demands a turn with Lady Ammena Piper from Ser Jonn Lannister; when Jonn spills wine over the prince, Aegon pulls the lady into the splash before withdrawing. The bedding party later discover the prince enjoying his bedsport with a castle maid in the newly wedded couple’s bedchamber.
Day 21: At Storm’s End, the Tourney of Love and Beauty celebrating the Baratheon - Prester union is won by Prince Aegon - who is riding with the favours of both Lady Gwenda Redfort and Elyse Meadows, at once - when Ser Elmer Crakehall yields to him. The prince crowns Jyana Lannister Queen of Love and Beauty, to taunt her husband Ser Jonn whom he much dislikes.
Day 21: Lord Jarmon Buckwell of the Antlers weds Jannia Tully - formerly lady-in-waiting to his influential grandmother the Dowager Lady Taria - at the Antlers.
Day 22: An archery tourney is interrupted by the descent of what proves to be the most vicious storm in memory for a generation. The Baratheon fleet is nigh shattered and large swathes of the Stormlands coastline are devastated, with plenty of settlements, livestock and crops decimated. The destruction is such that, despite opening his granaries and dispatching his men to help, Lord Baratheon is forced to send word to King’s Landing for support, as the region braces for famine and banditry. The storm is later remembered as the Great Storm.
Day 25: In the storm’s wake, Reyna Saltcliffe organizes relief while Ser Orson Baratheon’s escort is mauled by zealots loyal to Vaario Quanis, and Lord Corwen Baratheon sends ravens north begging King Baelor for ships, grain, and healers.
Day 1: Septon Elwood Hunter lands at Storm’s End with King Baelor’s hastily gathered aid—grain, septons, Silent Sisters—and quietly brings Ser Mathin Lannister into Ser Dermett Corbray’s planned march to Griffin’s Roost at Princess Naerys’s urging that even the ladies show their devotion.
Day 3: Irena Marbrand is relieved of her position as lady-in-waiting to Reyna Saltcliffe, due to her upcoming marriage.

Notables fighting include Lorence Blackwood; Ser Dermett Corbray; Ser Jonn Lannister; Ser Orson Baratheon; Ser Garlan Hunter; and Ser Orton Pryor, as well as Ser Bryon Waynwood and Ser Roland Hunter, who save the life of wounded Ammena Piper.
Desmona Blackwood tramples a would-be kidnapper of Jyana Lannister with her horse, whilst a crazed Mathin Lannister attempts to offer his nemesis Vaario his life. He is saved by a charge of Baratheon bannermen, coupled with the intervention of his brother Ser Jonn and Ser Roland. The remnants of the caravan, commanded solely by Ser Dermett, make a hasty retreat for a ravine.
Day 13: Lanei Fowler, heir to Skyreach, weds Ser Quincy Fowler, a cousin and brother of her late first betrothed, at Skyreach.

With their enemies slaughtered, the caravan make haste through the gullies.
Day 18: Ser Garlan Hunter tutors Orene Lefford in dagger work after Trebor Thorne arms her for the next assault.
Day 20: Vaario Quanis’s forces corner the caravan in the ravines, yet the appearance of troops under Ser Dagur Saltcliffe turns the tide toward a pincer movement of the Kingslanders and Stormlanders. Victory is sealed when the Tyroshi giant is slain by Ser Mathin Lannister with the aid of Ser Jonn, spurring the surviving attackers to surrender.
Vaario’s skull is to adorn the gates of the Lannister family manse in King’s Landing.

Day 20: Dagur Saltcliffe loses most of a finger in an ale-soaked bout of fingerdancing with his ironborn embassy companions.
Day 22: Wylla Gargalen, daughter of Joleta Gargalen and her husband Ser Daven Wyl, called “Dread Daven”, is born at Salt Shore.
