Blood of Dragons

The 'A Song of Ice and Fire' MUSH

Chronicle

176 AC

The year 176 AC saw movement in Dorne, the continued consequences of the Kingswood disaster, and a series of royal court scandals and contests in King’s Landing. Dorne prepared a new embassy to Braavos and dealt with Prince Rhodry’s return with a new child, while King Aegon arranged Princess Elaena’s betrothal to Lord Ossifer Plumm. Struggling hamlets near the Rosby Road revealed the war’s lingering damage, the Kingswood rebellion was beaten back, a new King’s Justice was chosen, tourneys sharpened royal favor and disfavor, and Princess Elaena’s wedding ended with Lord Ossifer’s death.

Month 3

Day 28: Sunspear and Godsgrace were active with courtly marriages, rumors, and appointments after the departure of the Sealord and Dornish emissaries. The wedding at Godsgrace and talk around Lady Leyla Martell and Ser Jehan Santagar drew particular notice in Dorne.

Month 5

Day 13: The Dornish court speculated over Prince Maron’s choice of a new emissary to Braavos. Mavros Uller, younger brother of the Lord of Hellholt, drew notice after private audiences with Prince Maron and Lord Toland.

Day 30: Prince Rhodry Martell and Lady Tanyth returned to Sunspear with a newborn boy and a wet nurse in their expanded household. Though no formal announcement was made, the child’s presence was widely understood.

Month 7

Day 2: King Aegon IV held a memorable court session in the Red Keep. The court heard the date for Princess Elaena Targaryen’s forthcoming wedding to Lord Ossifer Plumm and other matters of royal business and favor.

Day 18: Ser Omrys Baratheon rode from King’s Landing as reeve to inspect drainage, boundary disputes, and complaints in a hamlet near the Rosby Road. The visit revealed collapsed ditches, flood-threatened homes, hunger, poaching, and families still broken by the failed Dornish war and the Kingswood disaster. Omrys promised city workmen for the drainage, spared a desperate crofter from the death penalty for killing one of the king’s deer in his own field, and urged neighbors left widowed or maimed by the disaster to share pasture and labor before winter.

Month 8

Day 10: A wedding tourney celebrated the union of Ser Otho Royce and Lady Elyne Lefford. Ser Omrys Baratheon dominated the final day of jousting, though his conduct left as much talk as his victory.

Month 9

Day 15: Lord Ossifer Plumm arrived in King’s Landing and secured King Aegon’s favor for a betrothal to Princess Elaena Targaryen. The match ended Elaena’s long hope for the return of Oakenfist and tied her future to the wealth of House Plumm.

Month 10

Day 4: Prince Maron settled the question of Dorne’s renewed embassy to Braavos, with the chosen party preparing to sail from Sunspear. The decision continued Dorne’s careful foreign engagement with the Secret City.

Day 11: Disorder in the Kingswood hardened into open danger as rebels and woodsmen challenged royal authority in the wildfire-scarred forest. The unrest required armed answer from King’s Landing.

Day 17: Royal troops marched deep into the Kingswood to relieve a besieged Wardenry holdfast and confront the followers of the Knight of the Ashes. The first engagement drove the enemy from the field but did not end the rebellion.

Day 20: The king’s men pressed on to Stoneback Hill and struck the rebels in their stronghold. The fighting broke the main resistance of the Kingswood rebels and answered the challenge posed by the Knight of the Ashes.

Month 11

Day 11: King Aegon presided over grim trials for the office of King’s Justice in the Red Keep’s western outer yard. Candidates proved themselves by executing condemned prisoners, and the spectacle confirmed the king’s taste for harsh public display.

Day 25: A royal tourney was held in King’s Landing with Princess Daena’s favor passing from knight to knight. Ser Omrys Baratheon won the day, but his conduct, blows to Ser Otho Royce’s helm, and crowning of Princess Rhaena rather than the expected honoree left unease around the victory.

Month 12

Day 8: A tourney in the mist celebrated the impending marriage of Princess Elaena Targaryen and Lord Ossifer Plumm. King Aegon, Melissa Blackwood, Princess Elaena, and the aged Lord Plumm watched the field as knights gathered for the royal wedding festivities.

Day 9: Princess Elaena Targaryen wed Lord Ossifer Plumm in King’s Landing, but the wedding feast ended in scandal and death when Lord Ossifer died after the bedding. The event immediately cast uncertainty over Princess Elaena’s future and the Plumm succession.

Day 22: Ser Omrys Baratheon held audience in Flea Bottom as Reeve of King’s Landing, but the gathering at the Crossroads turned violent. The riot left blood in the streets and coincided with Lady Arwen Westerling giving birth amid the chaos.
