The base Influence of each character depends on the rank of the character’s house as well as various positive and negative modifiers. Those assets and flaws that work as positive and negative modifiers on the base Influence also affect the amount of Influence gained and lost through for example +rumors as well as natural increase or decrease towards the base value. This is done by calculating the sum total of all modifiers—positive and negative—and dividing this by 10. That value is then combined in various ways with the house rank to create a modifier for the rate of gain and the rate of loss.
The house ranks are as listed here, with the number after each house supplying both an initial base value (which is equal to rank x 100) and acting as a multiplier on the positive and negative modifiers.
These are the positive modifiers that affect base Influence as well as the gain and loss of Influence, drawn from Assets and Offices.
